"Souvenirs from Romania" is the result of a one-month stay in Bucharest. This book gathers memories of my experience in that city: from photographs to objects, thoughts about Bucharest and its socio-cultural context. A city and a society strongly marked by the recent past of an oppressive communist regime, with no room to think outside the state standards. Consequently, a conservative society with a very strong religious dimension, based on orthodox religion. On the other hand, there is a huge thirst for change and a growing struggle for equality that manifests itself in the youth in different ways.
The project is based on the idea of photography as memory and archive, thus relating to the definition of souvenir, as an object characteristic of a place that serves as a reminder.
