H2RG72
Henrikas Riškus aka H2Random
18.06 — 10.07 2022
Random Project is a body of work that explores the outcome of chance. Starting with the roll of a dice, the flip of a coin or online tools which randomly dictate “what is” and “what is not” to create a visual abstract binary code open to universal interpretation. Independent of the process, all versions trust in the nature of a surprise outcome and the beauty of this.
The series emerged back in 2015 when asked to create an identity logo for a techno music label. The idea was born from the philosophy of “ups and downs” creating positive and negative wave patterns on a traditional chess board layout. From its photocopy poster beginning, Random Project has evolved into catalogs, video mapping, photo prints, video clips, clothing and workshops. These variations can be found in several cities in Europe and more recently Portugal. The H2RG72 exhibition is presenting the most recent works, including site specific works adapted to the gallery.
About the artist:
Henrikas AKA H2 is multimedia artist, connecting aesthetics and chaos. He Works both with analog and digital media to create abstract and pattern works and solutions for individual cases and spaces.
Starting with graffiti, street art and murals he later moved towards digital arts. Right from the beginning H2 had a distinctive style of graphics that emerged from strictly implemented and calculated aesthetic rules, forming grids and patterns and playing with positive and negative space. Having lived and worked in many different places, from Lithuania to Portugal, H2 maintains his hunger for accidental and random wave patterns that permeate through his many medias of work – murals, collage, music videos, generative and poster art, even clothing design.
