OKNA is excited to announce its fifth anniversary this April. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone at our community celebration throughout the month of April.
Over the past five years, OKNA has presented Eastern Europe as an exceptional source of artistic and cultural expression, inspiring and immersing our community. We strive to create and present collaborative works between Portugal and Eastern European countries, serving as a platform and a working space for those who, like us, find beauty in diversity and differences and similarities, with a focus on what’s new and contemporary.
We are proud of our achievements over the past five years and look forward to continuing to inspire and immerse our community with our unique and diverse artistic and cultural offerings. Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you at our anniversary celebration!

EXHIBITION // BREAK by Olga Wardęga & Wera Grześ
On Friday, April 14th from 7pm, OKNA opens the exhibition BREAK by, artists-in-residence, Olga Wardęga & Wera Grześ.
Break encourages visitors to embrace the present moment, explore new possibilities, and connect by creating together. Olga and Wera are known for sharing their coffee breaks, which becomes the impulse for their creative process. They make sketchy notes and transfer them to large textiles using batik techniques. From a series of sketches based on mutual reactions, painting gestures, and new techniques, the exhibition serves as a collaborative arrangement inspired by the simple act of taking a break – together. Through this shared process, they find a mutual rhythm and painterly language that unites them.

Visual poetry moves in a unique space where textual and visual means of expression work together to create meaning. The workshop invites you to play with images and words, based on looking at their meanings and associations and locating them in the space of a piece of
paper. The aim of the workshop is to create works based on these associations and explore the possibilities of visual poetry and drawing ink techniques.

Stop motion animation workshop with Alla Dmitrievna
Animation workshop for adults is an event for people who want to understand stop motion animation better, learn about its basics and develop their imagination.
The theme is devoted to one of the most actual questions nowadays – ecology. Through making a film, participants may depict their position on the current situation with the environment, offer a method of solving the problem or dream up how this situation may unfold.
