OKNA – From Proto-Slavic *okъno (“window”) – is a cultural center dedicated to providing artistic programming and educational projects while establishing a close cooperation between Central/Eastern Europe and Portugal. Engaging with artists, researchers, and other cultural actors, the space celebrates CEE as an invaluable source of artistic and cultural expression, inspiring and immersing the community of Porto into a new creative environment.
Initated by a multicultural team, OKNA became a space addressing the need of bringing people closer, promoting artistic content and encouraging collaborative education while representing the New East.
Through its intercultural dialogue programs, OKNA sustains strategic partnerships that enable internationalisation of Portuguese culture in Central and Eastern Europe as well as identifying a stable pool of thinkers, cultural managers and institutions that can support international cooperations between the territories.
